Piatt County Trail Design Plan

In a fantastic development for us–two talented graduate students who participated in the Amenia trailhead design project secured full time summer internships from the University of Illinois Department of Landscape Architecture to work on a trail design plan for selected corridors in Piatt County. The students have been actively developing concepts for three trailheads, three community gathering spots, and a range of trail design plans for different segments of this 25-mile corridor. In addition to the design work they are also creating community and destination profiles for the towns and key attractions along the route – such as campgrounds, parks, recreational areas, and the Monticello Railway Museum.

The end goal of the project is to have a concept document in hand that can be used as a starting point to kick off discussions with stakeholders along this important stretch of corridor. We’re thrilled to be working with these talented individuals, and thankful to the University of Illinois for their support of this important work. Be sure to check back in fall to view the full plan.
