Corridor Clearing Piatt County

During our strategic planning retreat in early 2025, we prioritized the trail segments between Monticello and Cisco for development this year. This stretch includes a promising site for a future trailhead in Amenia, making it a focal point of our efforts.

Key features of this section include two timber trestle bridges that require assessment for potential rehabilitation or replacement. In addition, invasive species removal will be essential to restore and preserve the corridor’s ecological integrity.

Work is already underway: we've begun clearing a portion of the trail approximately one mile west of Amenia, progressing toward Cisco. We're also actively identifying and engaging with potential partners to assist with evaluating the structural needs of the bridges.

We anticipate continuing work throughout the fall and winter seasons as we advance this important segment of the trail.
