Native Plantings

We’re proud to continue our ongoing efforts to restore native trees, grasses and forbs along the rail corridor. Our treasurer, Kevin Green, recently led a restoration effort just west of Oakwood, replanting a section of the rail corridor right-of-way that had been continually plowed. The area is now seeded with native grasses and forbs to help reestablish prairie habitat. 

We’re also in the early stages of identifying targeted sites in Monitocello and Piatt County suitable for planting bare-root trees including Oaks, Sycamores and other savannah prairie species.
